The custom has been established now for several seasons : kicking off the new musical year with a festive and colourful concert from the Dijon Bourgogne Orchestra. And since Vienna has no monopoly on musical best wishes, it is towards the south that the musicians of the ensemble will lead us this time, to enjoy a bit more than an hour of welcome sunshine during this frigid period of winter. The voyage will take us from Spain to Sicily by way of Rossini’s Italy. It will be in the company of a spirited and charming host : Karine Deshayes, who will give voice and life to the great heroines of these Mediterranean lands. At the heart of this enchanting programme will be De Falla’s Seven popular Spanish songs, which in 10 minutes draw a portrait, at times playful, at times serious and tragic, of the thousand aspects of passionate love in Spain.
