Le Château des Carpathes
from age 12
A forgotten gothic masterpiece by Jules Verne, Le Château des Carpathes returns in an operatic version of musical theatre led by Emilie Capliez. The show combines technology with the supernatural, in a mix that is constantly surprising and festive.
Perched high above a village in Transylvania, the Castle of the baron of Gortz fills the villagers with fear. It is said that the ghost of La Stilla, a singer who died just before her marriage, inhabits the castle, manifesting in strange apparitions. When Franz, her former fiancé, sets out to learn the truth, he is unaware that he will confront a mystery at the crossroads of science and magic ... In this novel, Jules Verne has plenty of fun mixing thrills and chills with rational explanations. And it is in this same spirit that Émilie Capliez offers the story a pallet of spectacular visual effects, where video images bring to the stage the enigmatic ghost, while jazz composer Airelle Besson creates a subtext for the tale with a score that alternates between mystery, tenderness and suspense.
