Viktoria Mullova & Alasdair Beatson #3
The year 2027 marks the bicentennial of one of the greatest names in music: Ludwig van Beethoven. To celebrate the occasion, international star Viktoria Mullova will give three concerts at the Dijon Opera. This is the third in this series of exceptional concerts.
Beethoven’s 10 violin and piano sonatas traverse the full spectrum of human emotion, from introspection to humour, despair to radiant joy. Their extraordinary range, matched by breathtaking virtuosity, never fails to speak straight to the heart. Violinist Viktoria Mullova and her fortepiano partner, Alasdair Beatson, bring their complete cycle to a close by embracing its two extremes: the First Sonata, which opens the series, and the Tenth, a work of prophetic experimentation. Between them comes the Fifth Sonata, known as the “Spring” Sonata for the sheer radiance of its melodic development. A final chance to hear this legendary violinist in a legendary repertoire.
