Dans l’attente des nouvelles annonces gouvernementales, l’Opéra de Dijon est contraint d’annuler ce spectacle. Informations
The orchestral version of the Mass in D written for London audiences in 1892 is performed more often, but we will be given the rare opportunity to experience the original version for choir and organ that the composer wrote in 1887 for his friend, the architect and choir conductor Josef Hláva, for the inauguration of the chapel of his castle in Lužany. This version is closer to the composer’s own intimate and introverted faith than the orchestral version, which still uses relatively modest forces. Combining unbridled lyricism with mastery of archaic styles, introspection and fervour, mystery and ebullient joy, this Mass exudes a sweet sincerity that makes it one of the composer’s great hidden treasures. With it, the Dijon Opera Choir and its conductor Anass Ismat continue their exploration of both the composer and his sacred repertoire.
