Contre-nature
With this new creation, Rachid Ouramdane deepens his study of aerial gesture in an opus that mixes body-to-body and taking flight.
In the continuity of Corps extrêmes, which played to packed houses at the Opéra de Dijon in 2022, Contre-nature explores the possibility of weightlessness. For this, the choreographer has chosen to surround himself with 10 "heterogeneous performers", diverse formations that have one point in common, that of being artisans of gesture and space, as at ease in the air as on the ground. The result is a show where, behind the diversity of practices, a common gestural grammar is invented and drawn. On a bare stage, sculpted at times by lights and at times by images that appear in the mist, Contre-nature positions itself midway between the necessity of gravity and the quest for a joyous lightness of being.
