Jack and the beanstalk
from age 5
Featuring a large brass ensemble from the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Edouard Signolet’s adaptation of Jack and the beanstalk is a musical theatre version sure to delight all audiences, including small children ages 5 and up.
Jack and the beanstalk is a story well known to all, with countless versions. While the author of this famous fairy tale from the 18th century remains anonymous, Edouard Signolet’s adaptation reveals ancient wisdom: a quest that speaks of childhood and attachments, the desire to undertake and the taste for risk. Performed and told by actors-narrators, the story here draws its gleaming and braggadocious colours from a score arranged for 14 instruments in the spirit of a brass band of trumpets, trombones, horns and tubas, directed by David Guerrier. The musicians will perform excerpts from works by British composers of the 19th and 20th centuries, Gustav Holst, Edward Elgar and Benjamin Britten. 100% British!
