Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra
A concert in which dance is ever-present—whether in the works of Strauss or Ravel—performed by one of France’s most prestigious ensembles, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.
From Schumann to Ravel, from the height of Romanticism to the dazzling modernity of the 20th century, this concert takes us on a journey under the baton of the renowned Daniel Harding. At its heart is dance in all its many forms, brought to life by two brilliant orchestrators. From Germany comes the Dance of the Seven Veils from Strauss’s Salome, unfolding in a heady mix of sensuality, savagery and sheer sonic force. From France, Ravel reveals two very different facets of his genius: the melancholy beauty of Pavane pour une infante défunte and the feverish whirl of La Valse. Before that, Robert Schumann’s Romantic Piano Concerto offers a world of suppleness and fluidity, lyricism and tenderness, performed by the exceptional pianist Beatrice Rana.
