HELIKOPTER / LICHT
Between mechanical roars and flashes of light, Angelin Preljocaj propels us into a hypnotic ballet with his celebrated piece Helikopter, followed by his latest, radiant creation. In this oscillation between past and future, he invites us to follow him through the storm, and to dance with the world to come.
Set to the dizzying music of Stockhausen’s Helikopter-Streichquartett, six dancers whirl in a space suspended between sky and earth. They struggle against forces that assail them. Light bears down, sound pulls them in, yet they resist, driven by a radical, organic energy..
Then comes a salvational, almost unreal silence, opening the way to Preljocaj’s latest creation, dazzling and vibrant. A new momentum surges like a breath of freedom, carried by the energy of Laurent Garnier’s compositions. “We live in a rather dark world, but I see glimmers of light in it,” says Preljocaj. In this dynamic shift, with its raw intensity and radiant clarity, the performance offers a striking metaphor for our times, and an invitation to dance with the world to come.
