Part mini-opera, part merry-go-round, Carrousel takes children on a magical ride like no other. A joyful introduction to the wonderful world of Jacques Offenbach.

Step aboard the beautiful carousel horses, beneath a canopy of twinkling lights, and get ready for a ride like no other: 20 whole minutes—what a fabulous dream! There’s no brass ring to catch here, only a mischievous acrobat whizzing around the stage, where in the centre two singers—a soprano and a mezzo-soprano—perform excerpts from The Tales of Hoffmann and Orpheus in the Underworld.

Around the carousel, six chamber musicians—violin, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet and percussion—bring Jacques Offenbach’s unforgettable melodies to life. Parents and accompanying adults won’t miss out on the fun either: they have their own seats on either side of the carousel, with a perfect view of the action. Designed especially for young audiences, this magical blend of fairground tradition and opera creates a shared experience full of wonder, music and delight.
