The Other voyage
Musician of intimacy, Franz Schubert left numerous scores unfinished, testimony to his exceedingly high artistic standards. Silvia Costa and Raphaël Pichon imagine a psychic voyage of poignant emotion, right to the heart of his aesthetic.
On the stage, a medical examiner confronts the death of his wife, and the grief of unforgettable loss. Stage director Silvia Costa and musical director Raphaël Pichon take inspiration from the unfinished or re-orchestrated works of the romantic composer Franz Schubert, to take us on a gripping introspective journey that examines our most hidden desires and fears. Dissecting his own organs, the doctor, played by Stéphane Degout, takes part in his own moral and emotional autopsy, driven by the music of Schubert. An intimate exploration of our hopes for the future, our amazements of the past, our dreams and our illusions, through the ghosts that arise out of the works of Franz Schubert.
