La Néréide

Composed of three talented young sopranos, the ensemble La Néréide dives with delectation into the virtuoso madrigals of the Italian composer Luzzasco Luzzaschi, invented for the famous Dame di Ferrara at the end of the 16th century.

The year 1580, at the court of Duke Alfonso II of Ferrara in Italy: three professional singers from the entourage of the duke’s new bride form the concerto delle donne. Their artistic gift, the beauty of their voices and admirable musical technique would become legendary and serve as inspiration to numerous artists of the period. Among them, Luzzasco Luzzaschi, court organist, imagined for these three soloists a set of madrigals that are exceptional by virtue of their vocal richness and the refinement of their writing. Julie Roset, who has come many times to Dijon with Leonardo García Alarcón, is here joined by Camille Allerat and Ana Vieira Leite, all three members of the fresh new ensemble La Néréide, to offer the complete series of these works for three equal voices, in a soaring recital accompanied by an intimate instrumental team.
