Music in the City
The Dijon Opera is partnering with the Music in the City Festival for two concerts and a gourmet musical reception in a few of the Auditorium’s more unusual spaces, as well as an off-site concert featuring the Dijon Opera Choir.
As part of the Music in the City Festival, the Dijon Opera Choir brings radiant and uplifting vocal music to life in the magnificent setting of the Salle de Flore at the Palais des Ducs et des États de Bourgogne. Composers of the Classical and Romantic eras in Germany often looked to the liturgical vocal music of their predecessors for inspiration, drawing on its remarkable virtuosity. This can be heard in the magnificent choral works of Felix Mendelssohn, Johannes Brahms, Franz Liszt and Josef Gabriel Rheinberger. This choral concert features their motets, hymns and psalms, rooted in the musical traditions of the Renaissance, the compositions of Bach and the great polyphonic traditions of northern Germany. An immersion in 19th-century sacred music, filled with radiant faith and profound spirituality.
