Toulouse National Orchestra

Tarmo Peltokoski, Daniel Lozakovich
presentation

Under its music director Tarmo Peltokoski, the Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse is in dazzling form. This concert offers a chance to experience their remarkable chemistry in a passionate program featuring works by Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov.

The Finnish conductor takes the Toulouse orchestra on a journey into the far reaches of the Russian repertoire, with two monumental compositions by Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov. First comes Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, a dazzling work brought to life by the prodigy Daniel Lozakovich, whose recent recording was listed by Gramophone magazine  among the finest interpretations of the concerto from the past 70 years. The programme concludes with Rachmaninov’s Symphony No. 2, a rich and powerful work charged with drama, passion and sweeping intensity.
