The Rabbi’s Cat
In the hands of the Orchestre des Frivolités Parisiennes, the amusing adventures of an irreverent cat, who has acquired the use of speech to better question world, becomes a musical fairy tale full of philosophy and humour.
Twenty years after the publication of Joann Sfar’s first graphic novel, The Rabbi’s Cat comes to the stage! This cat, in love with his mistress Zlabya, learns to talk after eating a parakeet. Impertinent by choice, philosophical by nature, he is the feline mirror of humanity and possesses the ultimate freedom to question all social and religious dogma, his place in the world, and his relationships to others ... and to be madly in love! In this adaptation by Pascal Neyron, in collaboration with Oldelaf, the graphic novel comes to life in vibrantly colourful scenes, with an exultant original musical score by Matthieu Michard, in which French songs join in dialogue with Algerian rhythms.
