The Wings of desire

Composer Othman Louati and stage director Johanny Bert set out to rediscover the film The Wings of desire in this lyric show: a hauntingly poetic visual and sonic performance, mixing marionettes, electronic music, instrumental ensemble and choir.

At the heart of a divided Berlin before the fall of the Wall, filmmaker Wim Wenders takes us on a nostalgic tour through the eyes of two angels, Damiel and Cassiel, who hear the inner voices of the solitary and distraught inhabitants. Othman Louati and Johanny Bert, accompanied by the author Gwendoline Soublin, take this already highly operatic material to imagine an immersive and multifaceted new genre, mixing puppetry and musical art. It is a perfect vehicle for the creative lyric company Miroirs Etendus to revisit on stage a cinema classic and stretch the lyric canon with new challenges from other artistic disciplines.
