Samira Kadiri & Moustapha Mattar

Festival Nuits d'Orient et d'ailleurs
presentation

As part of the Festival Les Nuits d’Orients

The soprano Samira Kadiri offers an exceptional concert accompanied by musicians from Lebanon, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Syria and some 50 musicians from the Orchestre symphonique de jeunes of the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional (CRR) of  Dijon.

This concert mixes recent creations by the composer and pianist Moustapha Mattar and masterpieces of the great Arab singers such as Fayrouz, Asmahan and Leila Mourad. The repertoire blends the Arabo-Maghrebin musical heritage, Arab poetry and Western music. It pays homage to French song with the introduction of the accordion, along with traditional Arab instruments such as the qanoun (table zither), the oud (lute) and the nay (reed flute).
