ARTIST IN RESIDENCE & ASSOCIATE ENSEMBLE

Written in Mesopotamia more than five thousand years ago, the Epic of Gilgamesh recounts the adventures of the legendary King of Uruk and his friend, the hero Enkidu. Despairing at the loss of his companion, Gilgamesh embarks on his ultimate quest: to conquer death itself and find the secret to eternal life.  From this saga, Brice Pauset and Celine Steiner compose a series of musical fragments, in a unique participative project that is offered free to the public. With the Dijon Bourgogne Orchestra, the Opera Choir and a children’s choir brought together specially for the occasion, The Epic of Gilgamesh will allow children from the region and their audiences to discover simultaneously the music of today and the oldest epic poem known to humanity !
