The Orchestre Dijon Bourgogne pursues an artistic mission devoted to excellence in the execution of the symphonic and lyric repertoire, from the classical period to today. Since the 2022-23 season, the Franco-Swiss conductor Joseph Bastian has been its principal conductor. An associate ensemble of the Opéra de Dijon‚ the ODB performs on stage and in the pit of the Auditorium. In this role, it works regularly on lyric productions with Débora Waldman‚ associate conductor at the Opéra de Dijon. It is also involved in the dissemination of the symphonic repertoire in Dijon and throughout the Region, where it accompanies innovative productions and renowned soloists (Renaud Capuçon‚ Denis Kozhukhin‚ Adélaïde Ferrière‚ Bruno Philippe‚ Sarah Aristidou‚ Rémy Bres-Feuillet‚ Alexandra Conunova‚ Anne Gastinel)) under the direction of leading conductors such as Adrian Prabava‚ Mathieu Herzog‚ Christoph Koncz‚ Gábor Takács-Nagy‚ Emilio Pomarico‚ Ariane Matiakh. With the bandoneonist William Sabatier‚ it recorded in 2021 a CD devoted to the concertos of Astor Piazzolla under the direction of Leonardo García Alarcón for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Argentinian composer’s birth. The Orchestre Dijon Bourgogne regularly enriches its seasons with creative projects in collaboration with contemporary composers of various ethnic origins (Brigitta Muntendorf‚ Pierre Thilloy‚ Marc-Olivier Dupin‚ Brice Pauset), artists from a wide variety of disciplines such as Cie Atipik (shadow theatre)‚ Rana Gorgani (whirling dervish)‚ Ivan Grinberg (author)‚ Yan Li (erhu)‚ Regis Royer (actor)‚ Elodie Sicard (dancer). The ODB is a guest of the festivals Musique & Vin in Beaune‚ Les Rencontres Musicales in Vézelay‚ Festival delle Nazioni à Città di Castello (Italy)‚ Street Art on the Roc. In parallel with its symphonic and lyric activities ‚ the ODB proposes a season of chamber music at various cultural venues of the City of Dijon, as well as numerous actions for people who cannot attend cultural events (Petites Musique de Chambres at the CHU and CGFL) or in the initiation to instrumental practice in priority neighbourhoods of the metropolitan area (Orchestre des Quartiers). Certified as an Association of continued education for the general public by France’s Education Nationale‚ the Orchestre Dijon Bourgogne creates pedagogical initiatives with the Académie and Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Dijon‚ and develops programmes for training and professional career development with students of the ESM Bourgogne- Franche-Comté. It enjoys a strong presence in the region thanks to the diversity of its variable musical training programmes.

Founded in 1982‚ the Orchestre Français des Jeunes trains aspiring young orchestral musicians under the direction of internationally known conductors.
In residence in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté since 2023‚ it spends its summers at the Saline royale d’Arc-et-Senans and its winters at the Opéra de Dijon. On 10 December 2024, it will launch its winter season at Dijon under its current musical director Michael Schønwandt: it will perform the Concerto for orchestra by Bela Bartók and accompany the great pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja in Beethoven’s Emperor. We will get another opportunity to hear the OFJ on 11 and 12 January 2025, on the stage of our Auditorium, where it will perform a lyric work for the first time in its history: Bluebeard’s Castle‚ Bartók’s sole opera‚ conducted by its new musical director Kristiina Poska. Guaranteeing a regular orchestral presence at the heart of the Opera’s programme‚ its residency in Dijon also allows it to develop numerous actions of mediation for the two institutions in the service of all audiences.
The Orchestre Français des Jeunes is supported by the Ministry of Culture‚ the Saline royale d’Arc-et- Senans as well as by the Region Bourgogne-Franche- Comté. It benefits from the patronage of the group LEFORT. The OFJ thanks Salvi for the use of their highquality harps.

A painter‚ poet‚ set designer‚ Gilles Aillaud is a versatile artist, a philosopher and a traveller. In the 1960s‚ in a bid to reconnect with classical painting, he began painting zoos and landscapes. He rid himself of the problem of loss of subject matter, which haunted 20th century painters, and instead worked on the motif. Zoo scenes take a central place in his production. But the presence of these once savage beasts, now captive, is not limited to the subject of confinement. If Gilles Aillaud chooses to paint cages‚ it is because he is interested in what this does to what there is to see, and the conditions of these visions themselves. The zoo, with its different spaces, is a type of theatre, with actors unaware of the roles they play. Always at eye level and capturing the fleeting moment, these images reveal scenic inventions made by humans as an awkward rendition of nature. This is why the walls and bars take on as much importance in these works as the animals themselves.
