Repin | Angelich | Modigliani

ANNULÉ | Debussy | Chausson

This concert – exceptional in every sense of the term – has been freely crafted by artists of immense stature, and who are rarely found together on the same stage : Vadim Repin, Nicholas Angelich and the Modigliani Quartet. The reason for this grand encounter ? An astonishing work for a highly unusual formation : the Concert op. 21 that Ernest Chausson composed circa 1890, and whose configuration pays homage to the French concert as conceived by Francois Couperin in the early 18th century. This score, whose climate runs from dark and anxious to dreamy and elegiac, deploys Fauréan harmonies of particular seductiveness. On the one hand, Vadim Repin and Nicholas Angelich will offer the wrenching testament of Debussy’s Sonata for violin and piano, and on the other, the Modigliani Quarter will perform Ravel’s ever-popular Quartet.
