Throughout the years and concerts, great elective affinities were woven between Anima Eterna Brugge and the music of Ravel. Beneath the modest, reserved and at times austere and rigorous approach of the conductor and his ensemble, there is also a certain playfulness, made of laughter and fantasy, a love for the unexpected and the unknown, and a capacity to marvel – all of these are part of the DNA of music that remains ever self-evident and natural. All of Ravel’s orchestra works, performed one after another over the last 10 years, will now be offered in a single grand festive celebration of this much-loved French composer : the exotic and heady melodic perfumes of Sheherazade, the fairy-tale garden of a thousand splendours of Ma Mere l’Oye, the blazing colours and sunlight of the Rhapsodie Espagnole, the hypnotic and tragic twirling of La Valse, and many more surprises in store…
