Jupiter, Thomas Dunford — Lea Desandre
The irresistible mezzo-soprano Lea Desandre gives voice to the Amazons, those fierce, ancient warriors : powerful women who spring back to life in the sumptuous pages of the baroque repertoire.
They speak in turn of their victories in battle, of broken relationships, of suffering and despair, but also of tender love and intense passion : the Amazons are among the characters most often represented in the musical sphere of the 18th century. With lamentations, furious arias, languorous duos or great lyric scenes, numerous and varied are the works inspired by these iconic women who remain role models still today. This recital is the occasion to give them new life, to let resonate their emotions and mores, all the while reconsidering the place they truly merit. Sovereign, subjugating, profoundly moving women.
