Giselle...
Giselle… is a solo dance by Samantha van Wissen that, under the pretext of explaining the piece, ends up recounting and then performing, with grace and humour, the most famous of romantic ballets. With apparent simplicity, the show hits the bull’s eye, piercing the very heart of emotion.
After the success of Phedre!, François Gremaud decided to stage Giselle… the famous ballet based on a tale by Theophile Gautier. This production is first and foremost a play on the play, which offers the dancer and actor Samantha van Wissen the solo role in a choreographed conference, a rereading in music that frontally addresses the story and gesture, the character and the performer, the content and context of the work.
