Focused on accessibility, the Opera of Dijon provides programs for audiences with disabilities. Audio descriptions, tactile models, visits in French Sign Language (LSF), vibrating vests, and tailored assistance are offered to spectators.
In addition, the mediation department develops tailor-made projects for associations with social and healthcare missions. Visits to the Auditorium are always offered, and when this is not possible, off-site activities bring opera directly to the beneficiaries of healthcare and social institutions :
- A partnership has been established with the Dijon Burgundy University Hospital to allow patients to benefit from the positive effects of art on health.
- The Opera of Dijon is a partner of the “Modes de vie” Festival. On this occasion, a project is developed around an Opera production, involving residents from Dijon’s priority neighborhoods.
- The Dijon prison is also a key partner in the Opera’s initiative to raise awareness of opera. Each year, a group visits the Auditorium and attends a performance. The mediation team also goes to the prison to lead an artistic workshop with the inmates.
- Audience pathways are organized with individuals with psychiatric disabilities from the Jean-Baptiste Pussin Medical Reception Center at La Chartreuse. Participants take part in mediation activities to better understand the works they are discovering at the Opera.
- Delphine Ribémont-Lambert, a member of the Opera of Dijon Chorus, works with the audience of the EAM Le Ponton. This Medical Reception Facility welcomes adults with autism spectrum disorders who participate in singing workshops, fostering curiosity, autonomy, and group cohesion.
