Road Movies
Following Road Movies by John Adams, a major figure in American minimalist music, the remarkable Jeanne Bleuse continues her wandering quest. This contemporary chamber work for violin and piano immerses us in the cinematic imagination of American road movies, shifting between trance-like languor and frenzied speed.
To accompany her on this new adventure, Jeanne Bleuse invites her trusted companions: violinist Julian Boutin, Cirque Trottola member Bastien Pelenc, and jazz musician Sylvaine Hélary. To capture the timbre of an ideal film score, an electronic piano — the rare KAWAI EP 608 from the 1980s — joins the acoustic piano and violin, enriching the sound palette of this decidedly rock-inspired work. This is a paean to the open road: the restless desire to set out, the thrill of freedom, the terror of exile, the unknown, the wild expanse, or the monotony of the landscape — a haunting, insistent poetic journey.
