Corps extrêmes

Rachid Ouramdane
about

Ages 10 and up

Vertiginous power and beauty of flight: Rachid Ouramdane’s Corps extrêmes is a performance in weightlessness, in which a towering desire for weightlessness vibrates, like a soaring need to give meaning to an existence too often chained down by gravity.

"I fall, but I am not afraid. I turn my fear into a primal scream, a solemn shout." Taking the words of Antonin Artaud, the choreographer Rachid Ouramdane sets the imagination and sensation of flight at the heart of his new creation, this dream that lives within us all. Confronting danger, mastering the self, merging elemental and existential quests –  above all, the desire to fly expresses a spirit of resistance against the disillusionments of an entire world. Performed by acrobats, tumblers, a climber and a high-wire artist, Corps extrêmes explores disciplines that defy gravity, stretching them to the limits, where risk-taking rhymes with the highest grace.
