Don Giovanni
Insatiable seducer? Audacious blasphemer? Frenzied spirit? Don Juan is all of these and more. Mozart’s impassioned music makes him a tightrope walker, juggling between laughter and terror before our captive eyes. More than an opera, Don Giovanni is an experience.
Following the matriarchal fable of L’Uomo Femina (Galuppi), staged in Dijon in 2024, director Agnès Jaoui swings to its polar opposite. In his thirst for emotion, which is also a plunge into the abyss, Don Giovanni defies the taboos of a society constrained by religion. Set designer Éric Ruf and costume designer Pierre-Jean Larroque set the framework for his mad quest: a nocturnal Spain imbued with subtle classicism. Baritone Dario Solari is joined by a stellar cast, including the great Karine Deshayes, Marianne Croux, and Catherine Trottmann, accompanied by the Dijon Bourgogne Orchestra and the Dijon Opera Choir.
