La Chute des Anges
Ages 8 and up
On the ground and in the air, the acrobats of La Chute des Anges move through a cinematic, tragicomic world as they set out to reclaim their freedom. Ahead of her staging of Ercole amante at the Opera in May, Raphaëlle Boitel invites us to discover one of the works that first brought her to prominence.
Black costumes against a black backdrop, the stage shrouded in darkness through which shafts of white light barely penetrate: the fallen angels of L’Oublié(e) move through an eerie, haunting world.
Blending circus, dance and theatre, La Chute des Anges takes us into a dystopian world, an uncertain future where machines have taken control, stripping humanity of its freedom to move and think for itself. The seven acrobats gradually embody a rebirth, expressing it through a dazzling, liberating physical language as they move across the floor, through the air and up the Chinese pole.
Breaking free from conformity and passivity, and embracing free will, love and the willingness to let go, they discover the strength to shape a different future. In this imagined world, just as in our own uncertain times, nothing is set in stone.
