Zaïde Quartet #2
The Zaïde Quartet is celebrating Beethoven’s bicentennial with an extraordinary project: introducing us to his string quartets through the lens of traditional music. “Beethoven Folk”: an ambitious idea, and a resounding success !
Following their first appearance in December, the musicians of the Zaïde Quartet return to the Dijon Opera for the second instalment of their Beethoven Folk project. The concept? To perform Beethoven’s finest quartets through the lens of traditional dances from across Europe. For the second half of this musical diptych, the Quartet has chosen two works Beethoven dedicated to the Russian ambassador to Vienna at the time, Count Razumovsky. In dialogue with these pieces, Russian folk songs trace the way melodies travelled across borders. The concert also resonates with Viktoria Mullova’s series exploring Beethoven’s violin and piano sonatas.
+ concert preceded by a participatory singing workshop with Anass Ismat, choir director, and artists from the Opera Choir at 7 p.m. in the foyer bar.
