Aladin et La Belle éveillée
Ages 8 and up
A team of eclectic, talented, and passionate artists brings to life two beloved fairy tales in a magical setting—here, it is the adults who invite the children to join them!
At the turn of the last century, composer Jane Vieu and librettist Lucien Métivet reimagined the enchanting stories of Aladdin and Sleeping Beauty. Using shadow play and moving-image projections, the precursor to modern animation, these sung-and-spoken fairy tales captivated all of Paris. Today, the musicians of the Dijon Bourgogne Orchestra revive this exhilarating music in a production conceived by cellist Héloïse Luzzati. Actress and soprano Marie Oppert, of the Comédie-Française, brings each character to life with tenderness and humour, while the ink drawings and paper cutouts of Pierre Créac’h create a dreamlike, immersive atmosphere, breathing new life into these long-forgotten wonders.
