House & Le Sacre du Printemps
The Lyon Opera Ballet brings two iconic works of contemporary dance to Dijon: House and Le Sacre du Printemps, where rhythm drives every move.
Separated by 30 years, and shaped by very different choreographic approaches, these productions of Le Sacre du Printemps (1984) and House (2011) nevertheless share a powerful sense of collective vertigo, echoing the rituals of ancient times. This is at the heart of Le Sacre du Printemps, originally choreographed by Vaslav Nijinsky and reimagined here by Swedish choreographer Mats Ek, while preserving Igor Stravinsky’s score intact.
Reworked in 2022, this version invites us into a dance that is both rigorous and explosive, combining virtuosic leaps, sweeping gestures and combative poses. The evening begins with he pulsing beats of techno in House, Sharon Eyal’s iconic work, where her distinctive language of movement brings together the energy of club culture and the precision of classical ballet.
Be prepared for a hypnotic tour de force, in which bodies undulate and unfold in a ceaseless interplay of shifting balance.
